UAlcorn Scholars perform at South Restaurant & Jazz Club

In honor of Women’s History Month, the scholars of Universal Alcorn Performing Arts Charter School performed at South Restaurant & Jazz Club during a special noon time jazz set titled, “Night Club & Noon” on Thursday, March 26th. The scholars of Universal Alcorn commemorated the founder of Universal Companies and Sound of Philadelphia, Mr. Kenny Gamble with a tribune.

Universal Alcorn’s student scholars in grades 5th – 8th joined other professional performers with a stage performance. The first of its kind, the “Night Club @ Noon” was inspired by the Philadelphia Clef Club’s Mr. Earl Brown of Jazz Journey, who solicited the support of Ben Bynum of South Restaurant to hold the event to expose and showcase children to the world of jazz.

Hats off to the scholars of Universal Alcorn for conducting an excellent performance, Principal Starke, Director of Academics Sheila Mallory, Mr. Earl Brown and the staff of Universal Alcorn for doing an outstanding job!
